Definition

Attributes

NaturalDisaster: Phrase describing the natural disaster as mentioned in the text. Certain phrases will be normalized, for example "wildfire", "wild fire" and "forest fire" will be all normalized to "wildfire".

Person

Definition

Extracts one of the following types of person references in the text:

  1. A full or partial person name.
  2. A full or partial person name with aliases, nicknames or tribal names. In such cases, the normalized name includes the alias/nickname/tribal name inside quotes or parentheses at the middle or end of the name, according to its appearance in the document. If there is a sequence of two aliases for the same person, they appear with a "/" between them. If later in the document, the alias/nickname/tribal name appears by itself, it will also be extracted.
  3. Anaphora of the form he/she/his/him/her, which refers to a person name previously mentioned in the document. The IM resolves the anaphora and extracts it with the relevant person name.

In each case, the name is normalized to the fullest name occurring in the document.

Note: The event/fact PersonDetails also extracts a full or partial person name, along with position, affiliation and other person details. If the Person instance includes ONLY the name and no affiliation, the PersonDetails instance will NOT be extracted, ONLY the Person instance will be extracted.

May also be extracted from the document title.

Attributes

Company_Source: Investment bank/analyst company(Merrill Lynch etc.) publishing the rating or recommendation (optional).

Person_Source: Name of the analyst (within the investment bank / research company ) who issued the rating (optional).

Company_Rated: The company analyzed / recommended (or not recommended) by the analyst(s) (required).

Trend: The trend of the current recommendation with respect to the previous recommendation: May be either “upgraded” or “downgraded” or “reiterated” (SAME recommendation given AGAIN) or “initiated” (NEW recommendation as far we now – Default).("downgraded", "upgraded", "initiated" or "reiterated")(required).

Definition Extracts a reference to a position that an executive previously held in a company or an organization, or to a past appointment.
Attributes

Person: Name of the person to whom the information refers (required).

Position: Title that the person held (optional).

Company: Company affiliated with the position (optional).

Organization: Organization affiliated with the position (optional).

Notes: Company and Organization are mutually exclusive. Either Position, Company or Organization is required.

Examples

Example 1:

Lane, the president and COO of Oracle until this June

Attributes

Person: Person who communicated the quotation. (required)

Quote: Direct or indirect excerpt of spoken communication. (required)
